Enthusiasts no longer depend on a Raptor R to receive a supercharged V-8 in their Ford F-150. On June 2nd, 2023, Ford declared the availability of a dealer-installed performance package for the full-size pickup truck that adds forced induction and increases output significantly. Known as the FP700, the package incorporates a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger to the 5.0-liter V-8 in 2021 to 2023 F-150 vehicles. This escalates output to 700 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. To put things in perspective, those figures represent increases of 300 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque over the standard naturally aspirated variant.Ā

Of note, the FP700 matches the Raptor R’s 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine in horsepower, but the latter also delivers 640 pound-feet of torque. Even though it cannot match the 775-horsepower Shelby F-150 Super Snake, all installation work is completed by the same dealer that sells the truck, thus saving some time and energy.

Appearance Packages

Consumers can also opt between Bronze Edition and Black Edition styling features. The treatment includes:

  • Graphics.
  • 22-inch wheels with a six-spoke design.
  • Black lug nuts.
  • Tailgate lettering in the respective colors.

Whether it is a Black Edition or a Bronze Edition, the FP700 package also integrates stripes that decorate the front of the bed, a front fender vent, a black grille, a rear lowering kit, and Ford Performance carpeted floor mats.Ā

Notably, only the F-150 XL, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum trims with the 5.0-liter V-8 are eligible for the FP700 treatment. The package can be added to rear- or four-wheel-drive trucks with the regular cab, extended cab, or crew cab, and a 5.5-foot or 6.5-foot bed. As a matter of fact, any cab can be combined with those two bed lengths, but the Blue Oval does not provide the FP700 package with the 8.0-foot bed or Pro Power Onboard in-bed power outlets. In addition, Ford recommends that buyers order their trucks with the Sport Appearance Package for the best results.Ā

What the Upgrade Entails

With this upgrade, the 2023 Ford F-150 can have more power than the Raptor trim’s 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. That said, the customer is not going to get the brawny automobile’s off-road-oriented parts. As mentioned, the package’s output is a bit less than that of the Raptor R, but that truck’s components for excelling off-road are not included. However, if a buyer does not intend to get their F-150 filthy, this upgrade could be a suitable alternative to the more rugged trims.

Most importantly, Ford is currently preparing to update the F-150. The plan is to simplify the lineup by reducing the number of available configurations. This includes eliminating approximately 2,400 parts from the pickup truck. It is a compelling objective from a construction standpoint because it means many fewer parts to engineer, test, and manage quality on.

Legal in All 50 States

Ford claims the FP700 package is 50-state legal and backs it with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty when installed by a Ford dealer or Automotive Service Excellence certified technician. Pricing begins at $12,350 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for the Bronze Edition and Black Edition, both of which are now available to order through the Ford Performance website or from a local Ford dealer.Ā
