Performance Enhancements
Ford has updated the Mustang Mach-E for the 2024 model year. The all-electric crossover is quicker in its GT trim, and the entire lineup goes farther than the 2023 model on a single charge, with the automaker developing a new rear motor that produces more torque while weighing less. Standard for 2024, it delivers an additional 100 pound-feet of torque when outfitted with Ford’s new “Performance Upgrade” software. The e-Motor, combined with the new code, helps power the 2024 Mach-E GT from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.3 seconds, a figure Ford notes is faster than the new Porsche Macan 4 Electric and the Tesla Model Y Performance.
The 2023 model is no slouch, though. It is also available in single- or dual-motor iterations, and the swiftest trim, the Mach-E GT Performance, accelerates from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds. In other words, both models are incredibly fast. The Blue Oval also declared that the GT can complete a quarter-mile race in 11.8 seconds at 114 miles per hour courtesy of its 700 pound-feet of available torque. The upgrade is standard on the all-new Rally trim but can also be had on the GT for an additional $995. Customers can opt for the upgrade when they purchase the vehicle or pay for it later, improving its zero to 60 time by 0.3 seconds compared to non-upgraded GT trims.
A Boost in Standard Features
The manufacturer standardized numerous well-received features on the GT trim for 2024. For example, it now comes equipped with Brembo-branded front brake calipers, Ford Performance front seats, and the MagneRide Damping System, previously only available on the 2023 GT Performance Edition. Of note, that variant, along with the California Route 1 trim, has been dropped for 2024. Another key inclusion for 2024 is the Mach-E Rally, now officially on sale in the United States for $61,890 MSRP (Plus destination fee). The Rally features the Performance Upgrade pack as standard and integrates rally-inspired tires, alloys, and a host of exterior styling tweaks.
Speaking of, a Bronze Appearance Package, adding 20-inch Sinister Bronze painted aluminum wheels and other bronze exterior detailing is also available. Additionally, the large, vertically aligned 15.5-inch center touchscreen display unit has been improved for 2024, with Ford adding new button icons and tweaking the menu structure to allow simpler navigation of the system. Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay continue to be offered as standard across the lineup.
What is the Range of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E?
The new model year brings enhanced range figures for the lineup. The Mach-E Select can now go up to 250 miles on a single charge, 20 more than before. Moreover, Ford rates the Premium trim with the extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive to travel 320 miles, while the GT can go 280, an improvement of 20 and 10 miles, respectively. The Rally has 265 miles of range.
It is worth noting that the better range numbers for the lineup coincide with faster charging times. For reference, Mach-E electric crossovers with the extended-range battery charge approximately 20 percent more quickly, going from 10 to 80 percent in 36.2 minutes, 8.8 minutes faster than the previous model (2023). The Standard Range pack also charges 5.7 minutes more swiftly, going from 10-80 percent in 32.3 minutes.
