Ford F-150 Lightning Deliveries Begin!

The long-anticipated wait is finally coming to an end as Ford has officially begun to deliver its electric Ford F-150 Lightning to retail and fleet customers. As the emphasis and desire for electric vehicles become more prominent, more automakers are making that switch with their smaller and more compact vehicles. The American automaker has decided to take one step further by electrifying their gigantic and stunning trucks on top of already electrifying their smaller vehicles. Enthusiasts have seen Ford electrify or make hybrid versions of their favorite cars like the Mustang Mach-E or the Escape, and they’ve been patiently waiting for the first electric truck that Ford announced a few years prior.
The F-150 Lightning Timeline
Ford definitely chose the best truck within their lineup to release as their first-ever electrified truck, seeing as the F-150 is the best-selling passenger vehicle within the United States. With the announcement of the F-150 Lightning starting its production just last month, it is an incredible accomplishment that the truck is already on its way to dealerships and fleet customers across the United States. Ford has even begun to make its first deliveries to retail customers as well. A customer in Michigan was one of the first to receive their brand new electric pickup truck, and a timeline from order to production to delivery was given. The truck was reserved by the customer on January 7th of this year, and it began production on April 18th; just a few months after the reservation was made. The delivery of their vehicle was made on May 26th, 2022; giving a timeline from reservation to delivery of just under 6 months, a very impressive accomplishment for the American automaker.
Ford Sees High Demands for the Lightning
The well-loved American automaker racked up 200,000 reservations for the highly anticipated electric pickup truck and they quickly realized that the demand for the F-150 Lightning was a lot higher than originally anticipated. This led to Ford making a quick and efficient decision to ramp up the production of the electric pickup and the company is now planning to annually produce 150,000 units before the end of the coming year. Ford anticipates the production for this year to be limited to about 40,000 units Ford is making its mark with its F-150 Lightning regardless and is paving the way for other companies and automakers to take note of what an ingenious and upgraded EV looks like on a pickup truck.
