Ford debuted the 2024 Mustang convertible at an event following the Detroit Auto Show, dubbing it the most exhilarating version of the pony car yet. The Ford Mustang convertible lineup retains two engine options for 2024, with the GT Convertible receiving the higher output. 

The EcoBoost Convertible, however, churns out a respectable 315 horsepower, promising to give buyers even more driving pleasure than before. Peak torque carries on at 350 pound-feet, a considerable number, to be sure. 

With greater duality in this format, customers can revel in the burnout on track and drop-top cruising. Grounded in a heavily modified variant of the previous generation’s platform, but with a significantly altered engine, the EcoBoost Mustang delivers open-air adventure.

Beneath the Hood of the 2024 Ford Mustang Convertible

The base powertrain is an efficient and robust turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-four. Of note, a 10-speed automatic is the only transmission paired with the EcoBoost. That said, the model receives an all-new Remote Rev feature, allowing the driver to rev the engine utilizing the key fob. Performance is remarkably high, enabling the speedster to conduct a symphony at every green light. 

The EcoBoost does not merely rumble along at low revs. On the contrary, bury the throttle and listen as the revs intensify to a splendidly balanced crescendo. The Blue Oval tuned the exhaust to reach pinnacle efficiency.

The most notable updates to the Mustang, though, revolve around two key aspects: the dynamics and the chassis. In terms of steering feel, maneuverability was revised for the better. According to Ford, the advancements to the convertible are courtesy of a new rack, several stiffness reforms, and a quicker ratio.

Exterior

The brand attempted to straddle the line between pony heritage and contemporary aesthetics in the 2024 variant of the Mustang. Although every trim in the lineup is subject to a unique appearance, there are some exterior upgrades that carry over.

• The Mustang convertible preserves the appearance and build that distinguishes it but displays a much more assertive look overall.
• The low brow on the nose highlights the automobile’s brawny width and showcases the upper grille style functioning as a clever callback to the early aesthetic cues from the 1960s.
• The rear fascia is broader at the haunches, and the trunk area depicts components of a modern vehicle while maintaining an unmistakable Mustang look. 

Interior

• Interior designers were influenced by fighter jet cockpits.
• It comes standard with a 13.2-inch center screen and a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster, with the choice to have the displays combined in a single curved piece of glass.
• A “white noise” plastic grain pattern and more available trims and hues add delicate elegance to the cabin.
