The launch of the Ford F-150 Lightning is set to begin on April 26th, with a big party coming with it! Ford has said they hope to build 15,000 electric trucks just this year. It’s been a little less than a year since the news of Ford’s electric truck came out, and everyone has been eagerly waiting for more information! Ford wants everyone to know about the production for the vehicle, let’s see why that is.
Pre-production (the process that is used for dialing the assembly line, making sure that the components come together from start to end without any alarming consequences) for the F-150 Lightning had already begun since the announcement. Though pre-production vehicles usually don’t make it to public hands, Ford ostensibly has everything ready for primetime and wants to celebrate this momentous occasion by throwing a party!
Ford F-150 Lightning Strikes
Ford says they will have UAW leaders, company executives, employees, and even customers on deck to literally get the F-150 Lightning rolling. The electric truck is said to be manufactured at Ford’s historic Rouge Complex in Dearborn, in a special part that has been completely dedicated to the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning. Once it’s up and running, Ford is hoping to produce around 15,000 of the F-150 Lightning trucks per year in response to the overwhelming amount of reservations received (nearly 20,000).
Order books began to open in January of this year, which was around the time that Ford sent out a communication to dealerships advising them to ensure customer satisfaction as the response was so overwhelming for the truck reservations. With a lot of attention falling on the dealer markups on the super popular Ford Bronco when it debuted, Ford is very keen on greeting those looking to purchase the F-150 Lightning at or near the company’s suggested retail price.
Pricing
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is said to start just under $40,000 (Plus Destination Fee). This price is for the fleet-focused Lightning Pro that comes with a standard-range battery for about 230 miles. The Lightning XLT will come with a 320-mile range battery and will cost around $54,669 (Plus Destination Fee). Time is quickly approaching for the huge unveiling of the Ford F-150 Lightning, so stay tuned for more information to come!
