Starting in June 2024, owners of the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor midsize sport pickup truck can begin attending a driving school to learn how to get the most out of their 405-horsepower desert racers as off-road professionals teach the finer points of hill climbing, high-speed Baja-style driving, rock climbing, and more. Known as the Ranger Raptor Assault School, the course comes free with the purchase of a Ranger Raptor. It is at Ford’s Performance Racing School in Tooele Valley, Utah, an unassuming location surrounded by a variety of rocky terrain, beautiful snow-capped mountains, and plenty of dirt.
The Ranger Raptor features 33-inch all-terrain tires, a 405-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 engine, 2.5-inch FOX Live Valve shock absorbers, and locking front and rear differentials. That said, Will Ford, Ford Performance general manager, explained the purpose of the training program, stating, āOur goal is for owners, whether novices or off-road veterans, to experience the full capability of Ranger Raptor and get a true understanding of the passion and attention to detail that Ford engineers put into developing it.ā Will Ford’s surname is not a coincidence. His full name is William Clay Ford III. He is a fifth-generation member of the company’s founding family, so he might know a thing or two about what these vehicles can do.
Characteristics of the Ranger Raptor
The Ranger Raptor pickupās drive modes incorporate slippery, rock crawl, off-road, Baja, and sport. To clarify, the modes adjust the instrument cluster, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) tuning, damping, transmission and engine tuning, steering, and drivetrain tuning. The exhaust system also provides selectable modes: quiet, normal, sport, and Baja.Ā
Other electronics include trail control, managing throttle, and braking while off-roading so the driver can focus exclusively on steering through treacherous areas. Additionally, the Ranger Raptor has a unique grille, flared fenders, a steel skid plate, and steel bumpers with front and rear tow hooks. Interior flourishes include performance seats, magnesium paddle shifters, Bang & Olufsen audio, and orange trim highlights.
Ranger Raptor: Learning to Manage the Apex Predator
The Ranger Raptor Assault School is a one-day instruction session designed exclusively for the Ranger Raptor and only open to customers. As mentioned, the program cost is included with the purchase of the truck, but customers are responsible for their expenses, including flight and accommodations. Meals, however, are included. The session incorporates classroom instruction and off-road lessons.Ā
The best part is that participants can leave their Ranger Raptor at home because they will be rock-smashing and jumping with one provided by Ford, plus all safety gear for the day. It is worth noting that every aspect of the new Ranger Raptor is put to the test. From side hilling and rock crawling to descending, off-roading, and braking, the Ford Performance engineering team not only instills confidence and off-road skills, but also allows customers to understand the advanced technology and features behind it all.
The new, exclusive Ranger Raptor Assault School builds on the success of the F-150 Raptor Assault School. The Blue Oval also provides special training to the owners of the Mustang Dark Horse with the Track Attack Experience. Meanwhile, the Bronco owners get their fair share of fun in the Bronco Off-Roadeo events, the newest experience offered to customers.
