The Institute for Highway Safety has multiple categories to judge, including driver-and passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints; both of Ford’s vehicles scored a good rating on all 6 of these crashworthiness test categories. Not to mention the Top Safety Pick+ having its own set of categories that Ford was able to dominate with these two vehicles as well. The two vehicles had to be available with a front crash prevention system that had earned advanced or superior ratings in both of the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations.
