The Expedition is Ford’s largest SUV to date and it received a refresh back in 2022, which presented it with some new features and unique capabilities. Big changes were made for the 2023 Ford Expedition. The Expedition Timberline series is the most off-road-capable of all the Expedition models to date with its more rugged styling, higher ground clearance, an elevated ride height, and even more. With the introduction of the Timberline series, the Ford company has given all other vehicle companies a run for their money. Here are a few things to know about the Ford Expedition Timberline series!

It Builds on a Class Leader
The 2022 refresh includes an updated front-end styling, available partially automated drive mode, the debut of the highly anticipated Timberline off-road trim, and an upgraded infotainment system. These updates make the Expedition a fantastic choice for those looking for a family-friendly SUV with plenty of leg-room and cargo space. It builds on its predecessors, continuing to deliver phenomenal performance in a class all on its own.

Incredible Towing Capacity
With a large SUV, it is possible that drivers may need to or even want to tow something. Whether it’s a trailer or a boat for long road trips, the Expedition boasts a standard 6,000-pound capacity on just the base trim. The new Timberline series adds 3,300 pounds of towing capacity, bringing the total to 9,300 pounds for extra power.

Impressive Fuel Economy
It is a well-known fact that larger SUVs can be prone to having a terrible fuel economy, however that is not the case with the Expedition. The Expedition is mated with a six-cylinder engine that performs beautifully with an estimated 16mpg within the city and 19mpg when on the highway. It’s nowhere near as gas-guzzling as its competitors.

Updated Infotainment Features
The Expedition Timberline series is paired with a SYNC 4 infotainment system that adorns the dashboard with a 12-inch center stack screen, or the optional SYNC 4A system that boasts a colossal 15.5-inch display with swipe capabilities. The system offers built-in navigation, voice recognition, and the vehicle also adds an 8-inch (or an available 12.4-inch) gauge cluster. Another standard option would be the exterior zone lighting that can even be controlled from an app on a smartphone. A plethora of safety features also come standard or are available with these technological updates that are worth checking out!

Off-Road Performance
Within its class, the Expedition boasts the best ground clearance and brings a wider track with improved approach and departure angles for an enhanced off-roading experience. The Timberline series includes Trail Turn Assist, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler AT tires, and underbody shielding technology for that enhanced experience. It is also equipped with Trail Control technology and the Terrain Management System for an easier and more convenient method of off-roading.
