A Mystery Electric Truck Could be On the Way for Ford

The electric lineup for Ford is genuinely shining through and proving to fans and car enthusiasts how powerful it is. After Ford made its thunder-clapping debut with the Ford F-150 Lightning, the American Giant is developing a new electric truck that will likely hit the market sometime around 2025. Although there aren’t many details available to the public right now, it is said that the new EV truck will sit alongside an electric Ford Explorer, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the all-new Ford F-150 Lightning. This new lineup will fill out Ford’s electric family by the mid-point of the decade.
Ford CEO Jim Farley first teased the new truck in April (2022), stating that it would be built at the company’s upcoming Blue Oval City campus in Tennessee. According to Farley, it will be an “all-new” nameplate, not a refreshed or redesigned Ford F-150 Lightning, and it will help propel Ford forward as a leader in electric trucks. It’s a huge step forward for Ford to introduce a new nameplate instead of electrifying an existing product like the Maverick and the Bronco.

The report goes over Ford’s plans to launch production of a new all-electric Ford Explorer SUV before the end of the 2024 model year. The Explorer electric vehicle will be built at the company’s factory in Oakville, Ontario. According to Automotive News, the Oakville facility, where the gas-powered Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus are made, is currently being converted to a plant that will only produce EVs.
The new Ford Explorer EV is projected to go on sale at the beginning of 2025. CEO Jim Farley has also hinted at all-electric versions of the new beloved Bronco SUV and Maverick compact pickup truck. It is also likely that a hybrid version of the Bronco could be made first, especially with hybrid versions of the Bronco Sport and Ranger pickup truck also in the works. Ford has mentioned that the company wants to be “the clear No. 2 electric vehicle maker in North America within the next couple years and then challenge for No. 1”. The Ford brand is definitely on its way to making that goal and dreams a reality.
