Ford Alters 2024 Bronco Lineup, Adding New Equipment

As previously reported, order banks for the sixth-generation Ford Bronco opened on August 16th, 2023, when the build and price configurator went live for the vehicle. Ford has made a few adjustments to the Bronco lineup for the 2024 model year, quietly announcing the retirement of the Base level offering. The new entry-level trim is the Big Bend, which used to slot between the Base and the Black Diamond on the 2023 series.Ā
That said, this move should allow Ford Motor Company to streamline the assembly process of the Bronco, thus cutting customer wait time. Reducing certain complexity has been a consistent effort seen by Ford and even General Motors for 2024 model year products, as automakers seek equilibrium between supply chain issues, customer demand, and order mix.Ā
The Attraction of the Ford Bronco
Part of the burly Ford Bronco SUVās appeal, much like the Wrangler, is the availability of numerous trims, several of which offer a distinctly different feel. While some prioritize off-road prowess, others focus on comfort features. Of note, price hikes are not uncommon when a new model year comes around, especially when encountering inflation, but at least the Bronco comes outfitted with a slew of new standard equipment to offset some of the extra bite. For example, since the Big Bend trim now starts the lineup, more technological advancements have become standard.
The 16.0-inch steel wheels have been traded for the 17.0-inch set, encased in all-terrain tires measuring a staggering 32 inches in diameter. Every Bronco now features a 12.0-inch touchscreen display unit with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. Previously, an 8.0-inch touchscreen was standard and the only option on the Base and Big Bend trims. In addition, an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster continues to be standard.Ā
The Versatility of Other Trims
Interestingly, after the Blue Oval pulled the Everglades in the 2023 model year, it will return for 2024. Apart from Ford reintroducing the Everglades, other trims receive a few masterful tweaks. The Bronco Raptor, the top-of-the-line trim of the series, gained new design options for further personalization. In other words, a Code Orange package is part of the novelties, bringing some orange accents to the Raptor inspired by the world of motorsport. The upgrades are underscored by orange-colored tow hooks, headlock rings, and graphics.Ā
The 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine with twin-turbocharging, on the other hand, carries over without any upgrades, accelerating up to 418 horsepower and generating 440 pound-feet of torque. The range-topping member of the 2024 Bronco family takes over six seconds to sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour, even though unofficial testing has revealed that it is a bit faster, with the acceleration time dropping to under six seconds. Furthermore, Shelter Green Metallic and Velocity Blue exterior paint finishes are available on the Bronco Raptor.Ā
Even More Updates
Ford dropped the two-door Outer Banks trim, making it a four-door affair only. The Dearborn automakerās website also reveals that the Heavy Duty Modular Front Bumper is standard on the Badlands trim level. Small modifications throughout the lineup will take a keen eye, but certain packages, such as the 333A High Package and 334A Lux Package have been combined into one 334A High/Lux Package on Badlands.
