Ford announced significant progress toward an all-electric future in Europe, which will transform the company and result in the introduction of a new generation of seven all-electric, fully connected passenger vehicles and vans by the 2024 model year. The declaration builds on the automaker’s established global business unit–Ford Model e–dedicated to the design, manufacturing, and distribution of electric and connected vehicles.

These two business units, along with Ford Pro, focused on Ford’s commercial vehicle business, will define Ford’s future in Europe. Ford expects that the change of pace in Europe will challenge the entire automotive industry to assemble better, cleaner, and more digital vehicles. Indeed, it is evident that Ford is all-in and moving quickly to meet the demand in Europe and globally.

Sales Projections

The Blue Oval also expects annual sales of electric vehicles in Europe to exceed 600,000 units in 2026 as a result of its expanded range of electric passenger and commercial vehicle models. To that end, the acceleration in Europe bolsters Ford’s goal of selling over two million electric vehicles worldwide by 2026 and achieving a company-adjusted profit margin of ten percent. The manufacturer’s march toward an all-electric future is an absolute necessity for Ford to meet the mobility needs of consumers across a transforming Europe.

It is also about the pressing need for greater care of the planet, reducing emissions, and making a positive contribution to society. These efforts, taken together, will help Ford accomplish its global aim of significantly decreasing carbon emissions. In fact, the company claimed that it aims for zero emissions for all vehicle sales in Europe by 2035, as well as carbon neutrality across its European facilities, logistics, and supply chain.

The Availability of Seven New Electric Vehicles

Following the successful introduction of the all-electric Mach-E in Europe in 2021 and the Mach-E GT, as well as the launch of the E-Transit, Ford made plans to present seven all-electric vehicles in Europe – three new passenger vehicles and four new commercial vehicles. It is worth noting that Ford has begun production of an all-new electric passenger vehicle, a mid-size crossover, in Cologne, followed by the addition of a second electric vehicle to the Cologne production line-up in 2024. Additionally, starting in 2024, Ford’s best-selling passenger vehicle in Europe, the Ford Puma, will be available in an electric variant assembled in Craiova, Romania.

Ford’s iconic Transit lineup will include four new electric trims–the all-new Transit Custom one ton van and Tourneo Custom multi-purpose vehicle, as well as the smaller, next generation Transit Courier van and Tourneo Courier multi-purpose vehicle. As such, these new Ford electric vehicles signal what is nothing less than the total transformation of the Ford brand in Europe–a new generation of zero-emission vehicles optimized for a connected world that provides buyers with truly exceptional user experiences.
