The Ford F-150 Lightning’s Best Features

A year ago (2021), when Ford first formally announced the all-electric F-150 Lightning, it practically beat every automaker to the punch with this battery-electric pickup. Back in the ‘90s, the Ford F-150 Lightning was big as a performance street truck, and three decades later it’s in an all-new ballpark. Going forward, the F-150 Lightning is going to pull out all of the stops when it comes to showing just how powerful and useful its electric features are as it begins to take the world by storm. It has been equipped with the latest technology and more features than ever before, here are some of those features!

Powerful Powertrain
With four different trim levels being offered by the Ford F-150 Lightning, it’s important to have the power to back up all these trims. All four trims will be paired with four-wheel drive as a standard feature, and two different battery packs will be available to select from. The base trim will come standard with 426 horsepower, 775 lb-ft of torque, and an impressive range of 230 miles. The extended battery model will give drivers 563 horsepower and will bring forth a 300-mile range. An 80-amp charge station for home charging (that will be completed in just eight hours) will also come included with the Lightning, along with a few other fast charging features for away-from-home charging.

Phenomenal Performance
The F-150 Lightning’s power is truly remarkable, it gets drivers going from 0-60mph in just four seconds. It has a 1,800-pound battery that is mounted within an exoskeleton on the floor for a lower center of gravity and it benefits from having independent rear suspension when on-road. Ford has tested the Lightning in the same extremes that the company has tested all its other modern F-150s and so bigger amounts of power will be expected in some of the other trims. It’s able to handle even the toughest trails with a mixture of ample power, independent suspension that soaks up every bump, and a low center of gravity.

Sync 4A
Within the F-150 Lightning is a packed infotainment system known as the new Sync 4A. This is Ford’s latest technological advancement and it is housed by a 15.5-inch touchscreen that can adapt to a driver’s unique behavior. For example, when navigating, it can predict one’s regular destination and can work out the most convenient route based on traffic conditions. It also takes care to look after the charging schedule and features a seamless voice control system. 

Available BlueCruise
This stunning new feature will be available with the F-150 Lightning as well as on the Mustang Mach-E when it’s equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 Prep Package. It’s a system that will use an advanced camera and radar-sensing technology to build on its already intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centering, and speed sign recognition to create an effortless hands-free driving system.
