Ford, much like every other major auto brand, makes it their mission to begin every new year at 100 percent, going full-throttle in their efforts to outsell the competition and create as many elated customers as possible. Within the first quarter of 2023, Ford has come up triumphant as the best-selling brand in the United States in terms of SUVs, trucks, electric vehicles (EVs), muscle cars, and vans, witnessing an overall 10.7 percent increase in sales. Indeed, nearly every branch of Ford has seen significant surges merely three months into the 2023 model year. For example, their emblematic F-Series of pickup trucks went up 19.6 percent, the Bronco brand saw an 18.3 percent spike, three-row SUVs are up 47.6 percent, Mustangs saw a 5.2 percent increase, its line of electric vehicles has seen a rise of 41 percent, and Ford Pro Transit vans are up a staggering 86 percent.

As a matter of fact, Andrew Frick, Ford Vice President of Sales Distribution and Trucks, claims, “Ford is off to a fast start to the year. Ford’s sales growth and investments are a direct result of strong customer demand across our truck, SUV, and electric vehicle segments. And this year’s highly anticipated new product launches with Super Duty, Escape, Mustang and Ranger, will only add to this momentum.” The overall sales of all of Ford’s brands reached a grand total of 475,906 sold units as of March 2023, which marks a 10.1 percent upsurge compared to the same time in 2022.

Ford is the Truck Manufacturer to Keep an Eye On

As of 2022, Ford’s F-Series has been on a consistent 46-year winning streak as America’s top-selling pickup truck manufacturer, and the laudable praise continues to flow in. Upon the end of the first quarter of 2023, Ford has managed to sell 254,023 vans and trucks, with General Motors’ line of vans and trucks being outsold by an average of 27,000 vehicles to put it squarely in second place. According to the statistics, in 2022, Ford successfully sold over 640,000 F-Series trucks, which calculates to approximately one truck purchased every 49 seconds.

Ford is the Electric Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year

With the outpouring of electric vehicles on the market, this is uncharted territory that several dominant carmakers are gradually becoming increasingly familiar with. However, just like its line of pickup trucks, the Blue Oval seized the mantle for America’s top-selling EV manufacturer for the first quarter of 2023. Ford saw an impressive 41 percent in sales for its lineup of electric vehicles, totaling 10,866 sold units by March 2023.

The Ford F-150 Lightning took up a significant portion of sales, with a total number of 4,291 sold EV pickups to date. Production for the truck recently underwent a two-week pause, but Ford insists that the Lightning is back on track to reach its goal of 150,000 trucks to make it off the factory line by the end of the year. In turn, the E-Transit became America’s top-selling electric van in 2022, and by March 2023, it has already seen a 62.7 percent increase in sales.

Ford and its #1 SUVs

Ford’s lineup of SUVs has also witnessed an intensification of sales entering the new year. For example, the Ford Explorer went on to be the top-selling three-row SUV in the United States market, and the massively popular Bronco brand successfully managed to outsell its rival, the Jeep Wrangler, once again after seeing a 37.6 percent increase in sold units. In addition, the Ford Expedition managed to double its sales when compared to its numbers in the first quarter of 2022.
