Extraordinarily, the Blue Oval has solidified its status as the second-best-selling electric vehicle brand in the United States in the 2023 model year as the sales of Mach-E climb higher than ever.
Ford has announced increasing production at manufacturing plants across North America to meet rising customer demand for vehicles such as F-150 Lightning, Maverick, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit. Through February 2023, Ford was – and continues to be – the country’s number-one-selling overall brand and the top SUV automaker and truck manufacturer. Notably, the Mustang Mach-E helped drive the brand to number two in United States electric vehicle sales in 2022. The manufacturer states that it is also attracting new customers to Ford, with more than two-thirds of consumers drawn from other makers.
Maverick and Bronco Sport Progress
Ford is undoubtedly going all-out, focusing its attention on electric vehicles and those that rely on internal combustion engines. For example, Ford’s popular Bronco Sport and Maverick pickup trucks also receive production target increases. Production is expected to rise by more than 80,000 units in 2023, helping to meet demand in North America and another critical market, South America. In the United States, Ford brand SUV sales topped off at 777,770, thus marking an escalation of 4.6 percent in 2022 compared to 2021, ushered in by the Bronco family of automobiles. Moreover, according to Ford statistics, the Maverick was the number one small truck in the United States in 2022.
F-150 Lightning Progress
In Michigan, production of the F-150 Lightning at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center is on course to triple in 2023, intent on an annual production run rate of 150,000 by the end of said year. After a brief hiatus, F-150 Lightning production resumed as of March 13, 2023.
