Ford’s 2024 Mustang Dark Horse has an Artful Aesthetic

The new seventh-generation Mustang delivers the Dark Horse, naming it for its low-key, dark design. More information was divulged at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2023. The automobile will honor its name because Ford provides many exclusive accessories and materials for its new Mustang Dark Horse trim. For example, particular to the Mustang Dark Horse interior is its all-new lightweight, anodized blue titanium manual shift knob. The lightweight six-speed knob is hollow and does not get as swelteringly hot to the touch as similar aluminum knobs in warmer climates. Anodized silver paddle shifters will work alongside the 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission on the automatic trim.
Mustang Dark Horse also underscores a flat-bottomed steering wheel surrounded by performance suede for extra grip while contrasting Bright Indigo Blue stitching augments detail throughout the seats, the instrument and door panels, the gear shift boot, and the center console trim and lid, designers explained. Moreover, steering wheel buttons will manage specific automobile functions, like the drive mode selection, the instrument cluster, and the 13.2-inch SYNC 4 center stack. There is also an available electronic drift brake – a fitting addition for those high-octane enthusiasts – that is enveloped in leather and showcases an anodized lever with a particular action to assist the driver in modulating the rear wheels to a full lock while in track mode for sideways movement.
The Mustang Dark Horse Appearance Package
Adding to the previously mentioned stylistic designations, there is an available design arrangement dubbed the Mustang Dark Horse Appearance Package that integrates uniquely bolstered RECARO performance seats that accentuate exclusive Deep Indigo Blue bolsters adorned with Bright Indigo Blue accent stitching, including black Dinamica suede in the seat’s center for reinforced lateral grip. The blue concept is finished with deep Indigo Blue seatbelts and original seat perforations with blue accents underneath the seating surface.
Furthermore, the design team produced innovative trim surface and color options, with the vents and bezels, finished in Black Alley. This shadowy, metallic gloss takes the place of the usual bright silver hues found in other Mustang trim levels. Each Mustang Dark Horse also conveniently includes an instrument panel badge with the sports car’s chassis number.
Groundbreaking Paint Expresses Athleticism
Ford’s latest ride will be available with the all-new Blue Ember metallic paint, a burst of color represented by clever special effect pigments of deep blues steeped in a warm amber shade to grant the exterior paint an excellently dramatic color transition when shifting in different angles and lights. The color-changing paint is a throwback from the past. The automaker offered the color-shifting Mystichrome briefly on the 2004 SVT Cobra.
As elaborated upon by Carrie Kennerly, Ford’s senior color and materials designer, “If color is a reflection of a vehicle’s personality, Blue Ember transforms the Mustang Dark Horse and highlights a natural saddle-color horse hidden inside the strong chiseled fastback’s exterior form. Multiple elements are combined to give Blue Ember its intriguing and stealthy appearance that really drives home how unique Mustang Dark Horse is.” To highlight the rather enigmatic, aggressive aesthetic of the muscle car, vinyl, and even hand-painted graphics cultivate visual languages that skillfully promote the Mustang Dark Horse’s performance.
