In 2023, Ford is Focusing on Remote Service for Greater Customer Satisfaction

Beginning January 2023, Ford Motor Company has declared plans to increase complimentary Pickup & Delivery and Mobile Service appointments to all Ford Service customers throughout the nation. Mobile services from Ford will not function out of a central location, though. Ordinarily, dealerships can choose whether they want to form part of the program and arrange specific limitations, such as distance requirements and mileage. Nonetheless, the aim of the program is a simple one, which is to be there for their customers when needed.
The Blue Oval seems to have made its decision according to the J.D. Power 2022 U.S. Customer Service Index (CSI) Study that has reached the determination that customers with remote experience in vehicular repair are more likely to put in a good word for their car brand. Participating dealers will come to the customer’s home or place of business to pick up and drop off the automobile for repairs. Or, if the client has access to a suitable location of the customer’s choice, a mobile Ford technician can carry out routine maintenance and light repairs away from the dealership. The term “eligible locations” has not been clearly defined. Still, it generally refers to a residence or a place of business where it is safe and legal for a technician to work. Ford is, however, helping dealers get the services into proper working order, as conveyed by Tim Hovik, the National Dealer Council Chairperson: “We’ve been working with multiple teams at Ford to offer our customers more ways to personalize vehicle service.”
Buying Versus Service Experience
In reality, dealerships have fractured the car purchasing routine and the service experience for clients, which can leave the effects – for good or bad results – in the hands of the manufacturer instead of the dealer. Some automakers that form part of Ford’s competition continue to disturb the dealership paradigms. By moving away from dealerships, vehicular contenders monitor the purchasing and service experiences for their automobiles entirely in-house. For example, the companies that follow such a process are particularly well-known for their mobile technicians that can be scheduled in-app to show up at customers’ driveways and do light repairs like fixing air filters.
Nevertheless, Ford is now organizing itself to boost its competitive development. In the 2022 model year, the brand set its electric contributions apart from its combustion vehicle endeavors so that it could more vehemently challenge its rivals with suggestions like honest pricing and online ordering.
The Modern Embellishments
Consumers are understandably expecting an up-to-date online car buying experience with an intuitive mobile application that provides support. In the past, several Ford customers and other automotive enthusiasts have abhorred the dealership experience, particularly service departments, but this is where the Ford Motor Company has a chance to shine because the dealership itself can be dodged entirely. In fact, according to Todd Rabourn, North America Regional CX Director, “This program increases the access customers have to remote service options, so whether you’re due for an oil change or need to resolve a recall, it’s easier to have your vehicle serviced with less disruption to your life, and the activities and people you care about.”
Although it is true that the program wields plenty of possibilities, in practice, the automaker’s online and mobile services still rely strongly on dealerships. Nevertheless, FordPass, the company’s smartphone application, permits clients to remotely view the status of their vehicle, schedule service appointments, and receive recommendations. The app could be a future means to more adequately assist Ford’s growing remote projects.
