The Ford Mustang is preparing to enter its sixth decade of existence by introducing an all-new seventh generation of vehicles. In 2024, Ford Mustang will celebrate its 60th birthday and rumors have sparked that in order to mark this tremendous occasion, Ford is planning to release an all-new Mustang next year. Known as the S650, this completely refreshed Mustang promises to bring a myriad of changes, including a revised appearance inside and out, and will even include some brand new powertrains. Here’s everything that we know about the S650 generation Ford Mustang so far.
Price and Release Date
It is rumored that the initial release date of the S650 would be in 2022, just ahead of the 2023 on-sale date, though it seems as if the timeline has shifted a bit since then. Thanks to the information given in an interview with Ford’s Ali Jammoul, this now means that the suggested S650 Mustang would arrive before the end of 2023 and enter into the automobile industry as a 2024 model year product. Official information about the pricing has not been formally given, it shouldn’t be too different from previous generations. Expected entry-level pricing for the S650 generation should be within the $30,000 range with optional powertrains, and high-performance models having heftier pricing.
What Exactly is the S650 Mustang?
The S650 will mark the start of the seventh generation of the Ford Mustang, and much like its predecessor the S550, this vehicle is expected to stick around for an eight-year production cycle. The S650 will also receive a revised exterior, most notably around the passenger cell and the roof. Some other refreshments will include new fascia treatments, a sharper form, a larger front grille, and will adopt a more hexagonal shape. Overall, it will look to be more aggressive than ever before, and the lower bumpers seem as though they will resemble some Mach 1 elements.
A Nicer Interior
A few photos have surfaced that show the S650 and its updates to the interior and how stunning they are. The traditional dual-cow dash, which was a part of the first generation models, has been replaced by a more horizontal unit. In the center, a larger infotainment display adorns the dashboard. A new steering wheel that features a squared-off bottom section has also been spotted on some of the prototypes. The Ford Mustang has always been an ever-changing, and evolving segment, and the company will continue to make strides to make it a memorable vehicle for centuries to come.
