Back in June 2021, the Ford Maverick XL hybrid was listed at $19,995 MSRP, plus $1,495 for the destination fee. Toward the end of the 2022 model year, the unibody pickup truck used to be $22,595 MSRP, plus $1,595 destination charge for both the XL hybrid and turbo. Come July 2023, for the 2024 model year, the Maverick retails from $23,400 MSRP (Plus destination fee). There is no denying a price increase, but the reasoning behind it is advantageous for the automaker and buyers alike. Ford Motor Company underestimated the overwhelming popularity of this peppy truck, and it has been a challenging feat to keep up with monumental demand. After all, with the Maverick constantly outselling the larger Honda Ridgeline and Hyundai Santa Cruz, the new vehicle’s prices should be unsurprising to shoppers.
Even so, the Ford Maverick is still the most inexpensive new pickup truck customers can purchase in the United States. The Santa Cruz, for example, is currently listed at $26,650 MSRP (Minus destination fee) on Hyundai’s United States website. Step up to a midsize truck, and consumers can expect roughly $30,000 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for a Colorado or a bit more than $30,000 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for a Ranger.
Build and Price Tool
The build and price tool for the 2024 Ford Maverick displays the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims buyers are already familiar with. Instead of the highly-efficient hybrid powertrain, the Blue Oval’s online configurator defaults to the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo at $23,400 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for the XL, $26,315 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for the XLT, and $34,855 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for the Lariat.
As a matter of fact, rather than being standard equipment, the hybrid powertrain is now a $1,500 option. Moreover, only the Lariat is outfitted with all-wheel drive. Swap to the 2.5-liter hybrid, and the range-topping Lariat sacrifices all-wheel drive because said powertrain comes exclusively with front-wheel drive.
Prices for the gasoline-powered choice range between $24,900 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for the XL to $34,135 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for the Lariat. If shoppers have the patience to equip the hybrid-powered Lariat with all of the amenities, the Ford Motor Company is obliged to charge $45,000 MSRP (Plus destination fee) for a fully-loaded truck.
Other Changes to the 2024 Maverick
For starters, the Dearborn-based automaker has deleted four exterior colors in favor of Terrain and Azure Gray. The discontinued paint colors are Alto Blue, Avalanche Gray, Cyber Orange, and Area 51. The manufacturer also did away with the Tremor Off-Road Plus Appearance Package, whereas the Tremor Off-Road Package “gains new decals for the hood and doors.” The side mirrors are painted black regardless of trim level, making it relatively easy to tell the 2024 Maverick apart from the 2023 and 2022 iterations. Standard equipment now includes the Blind Spot Information System, a wireless phone charger, Lane Keeping System, and Co-Pilot 360 Assist. The latter comprises the following:
- Lane centering
- Adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go
- Rear park sensors
- Evasive steering assist
The XLT Luxury Package integrates a modular hard drop-in bedliner, while the standard Lariat Luxury Package has a spray-in bedliner. Of note, late in June 2023, Ford Authority reported spotting a pair of lowered Maverick pickups with manufacturer plates, seemingly hinting at a possible street performance trim as well.
Production of the 2024 Maverick is due to start on October 16th, 2023, at the Hermosillo Assembly plant in Mexico. Even though there are still a few months to wait, please come visit Sunrise Ford.
